25th February 2021
Further to the Prime Minister's latest update
on the 'Roadmap out of Lockdown'. Having again reviewed this new information, England continues to be in a current lockdown.
The 'Stay Home' message and travel restrictions
continue to remain in place until the 29th March 2021,
with the exception of a provision for outdoor exercise.
We therefore continue to remain
CLOSED TO ALL ANGLERS for the time being.
Realistically, unless covid cases start to rise again, and the government changes their 'Roadmap out of Lockdown',
it is looking like day anglers only, should be able to travel
a minimal distance to fish from the 29th March 2021.
We are reviewing the situation frequently.
As soon as we make a decision on when we will re-open,
we will announce it here and on our Facebook page.
This is the Angling Trust latest Roadmap out of Lockdown post
https://anglingtrust.net/2021/02/22/covid-19-roadmap-out-of-lockdown-what-it-means-for-angling/
Whilst the Angling Trust announced on 7th January 2021,
that fishing could resume during this 3rd lockdown,
on a very limited basis. The conditions include that fishing must be strictly local, with absolutely no overnight fishing allowed.
With the emphasis on travel being strictly limited to staying local, it is not financially viable for us to open for a handful of local day anglers. More importantly we feel that with the Covid-19 cases
still high, and the NHS under constant pressure,
that it would be irresponsible to re-open the fishery at present.
Winter Lake maintenance while we are closed
Whilst this is not the news that a lot of you want to hear,
whilst we are closed, we are not sat twiddling our thumbs,
far from it! We have been flat out doing lake maintenance on the Specimen Carp Lake. We have done extensive tree lopping,
and pruning around the whole lake.
The Cat N' Carp Lake hasn't been forgotten and has also had a tidy up, especially around the waterline on the islands.
In an effort to try and avoid the excessive weed growth problems caused by last years long hot sunny Spring and Summer,
the Specimen Carp lake has been drained,
with the stock removed to a secure large pond.
Unfortunately we are no longer able to source effective aquatic weedkillers in Europe that would have controlled the lakes weed.
We spent a lot of time, money, and effort last year trying to eradicate it without success. Lake dye which in theory limits the amount of light reaching the weed through the water had very little effect. Numerous other types of weedkillers were tried but without success, so at great expense, we now currently have a digger and dumper running flat out every day till dusk,
removing tons and tons of silt and weed from the lake.
Hopefully this will prove successful in removing the weed together with deepening the lake depths.
We will post on here, or on Facebook
as soon as we know a fishery re-opening date. Stay safe!
